    Benefit Football Tournament in aid of the recovery of Stathis Lazaridis, the policeman who got injured during a raid near Zoniana in November 2007.
Participating teams are A.O. Ermis Zoniana, Rethymnon Townhall, Rethymnon Police Corps, Rethymnon Football Federation, Association of Cretan Journalists and Palemachoi 'Achillea Argou' from Cyprus.
The tournament takes place at the Sochoras Football Ground and starts at 18.300hrs. Tickets cost €5.

Basketball

  
    ***AGO Rethymnon promoted to the A1 league of the Greek Basketball Competition**** (28/08/2007)

AGO Rethymnon - AGOR (www.agor.gr) played the 2006-2007 season in the A2 division. It was a very successful one, as they reached the final of the Greek Cup. They lost against Panathinaikos, who won the A1 championship and the Euroleague. In the regular competition they ended 3rd, behind Sporting and Rhodes. Although only the top 2 teams are being promoted, as of 20/07/2007, AGOR will be competing in the A1 division next season. Sporting, the champions, could not fulfill the A1 financial requirements and will continue to play in A2.

Volleyball

  
    2006-2007 was not a great season for the Rethymnon men's volleyball team. They were relegated from the A2 division of the Greek volleyball league and in the 2007-2008 season they will be playing in the B division.  The home games are played at the Melina Mercouri Sports complex near the bus station.  For the fixture list and table, go to the men's volleyball page

The women's team of the Rethymnon volleyball club did not fare much better in the 2006-2007 season.
