This forum welcomes postings from all corners of the globe. Not all languages use the same character sets in computer speak.
To read topics or part of topics that are written in a different character set from your default character set, you can either right-click on the page, select encoding and select the appropriate character set, or alternatively you can click View from the top menu of the browser and select encoding from there choose the correct character set.
To write topics or part of topics in a different character set, you have to add a new language to the Regional and Language Options in the control panel. The process for Windows XP is the following: Go to Control Panel and click Regional and Language options. Select the Languages tab and click Details. In the Installed Services section click on Add and select the language you want to add from the list. Click OK. On the right of your status bar you should now have an icon with a language indicator (EN for English for instance). Click on it and there should be a list of available languages (EL for Greek, NL for Dutch etc.). Alternatively, pressing Alt and Shift at the same time will take you through the list of available languages, the language indicator changes every time you press the key combination. The process for other Windows operating systems will be very similar. Im afraid I cant provide any help for the Apple systems.
