Some Renaissance Festival History:
Since 2008 the Rethymnon Renaissance Festival has undergone a
metamorphosis. For a short period Rethymnon gets transformed
into a medieval Venetian town and plays host to world-class
renaissance musicians. The programme also includes some
theatrical performances of plays from the Renaissance era.
A spectacular opening ceremony kicks off the festivities, and
the festival finishes with a similar closing ceremony. The theme
of 2010 ceremonies is 'earth', following on from
fire in 2008 and water in 2009.
